The Word Mela has a certain connotation and meaning, to most people it means an Asian Music Festival which conjure up images of music, dance, entertainment.
Worcester Mela has increasingly been doing and is being asked to do social history projects and exploring cultural identity. This with our expansion into other forms of arts and culture has brought up some issues around the name and branding of the organisation.
Therefore we intend to form a second organisation that will sit under the Worcester Mela Brand- that will focus on social history projects, projects that challenge, that question, that not only display our beauty, but explore our cultural identity through history and through to the present. The new organisation will open up more opportunities, more platforms and go where no Mela has gone before!
Our goal will always be to unite and bring together, but along the way we will challenge, question, understand and respect, so that our bonds grow stronger and our mutual love increases through learning and wisdom.
