Join Worcester Mela and Balbir Singh Dance Company (BSDC) as they explain more about their new co-created performance piece, ‘The Melting Pot’. BSDC will be sharing performance extracts from previous community projects and together we will delve deeper into the stories and history of Worcester’s factories.
We would love to capture the stories of those who have worked in, or have a connection to:
JVM Metal Castings, Kays’, Lea and Perrins, Metal Box, and Worcester Porcelain factories between 1960-1990. We are particularly interested in the contribution made by migrant communities during that time.
This event will be a special trip down memory lane, an opportunity to connect, re-live and educate us with history of the factories. Your stories will be preserved and some transformed into a multi-disciplinary performance piece that will be performed in the city in September 2024! If you have any photographs or memorabilia relating to the factories, we would love to see it, so please do bring where possible.
If you are a local artist, who might like to partake in this project – please do come along, say hello and register your interest! We are looking for performers, musicians, dancers and visual artists.
This is an informal free event.
Sunday 19th November, 2pm – Horizon Centre Midland Road, Worcester, WR5 1DS.
Finger food and refreshments will be provided!
Please note there will be audio and video recording at the event that you can opt out off if you wish.
We look forward to seeing you there!
